Endorsements

Barb has been endorsed by the Kalamazoo County Chamber of Commerce as well as many private and public members of the Greater Kalamazoo community. Below is a sample.

Listens and responds to constituents ....

I vote for Barb Miller because she listens to me. It's that simple. In an age of the disenfranchised voter, I find it refreshing to have a city commissioner who hears her constituents and works, sometimes at fever pitch, to accomplish what they ask. It's not so much to ask that the person you voted for respond to you, but there are few places where that truly seems to happen.

This is an age of "throw the bums out" since little is being done in cities, states and nationally to solve social and economic problems. The mantra becomes reckless, however, when the person being thrown out is sincerely committed to the duties she's been elected to carry out and makes situations better, not worse, when she becomes involved in them. We want to retain the good ones - those who live to improve conditions and make a positive impact in their communities. Barb Miller a keeper.

I've written several letters for Barb over the years, whether it was to secure her seat on the school board or to ensure her position on the city commission. I'll keep writing endorsements as long as my person in city hall is someone who loves my city and who has a vision for what is truly best to keep it safe and progressive. I cannot imagine a time when Barb Miller won't be that person.

Has compassion and good business sense ....

Barb Miller deserves your vote to re-elect her to the Kalamazoo City Commission. A life-long Kalamazoo resident, Barb knows the city and its needs.

Barb Miller has the experience of long service on the commission and the courage to make the hard decisions which lie ahead.

Barb combines the compassion for those in true need, and the good business sense to protect the jobs Kalamazoo must have to survive.

Please join me in re-electing Barb Miller to the city commission.

Questions, gives, supports education ....

Barbara H. Miller continues to be an excellent choice as a city commissioner for Kalamazoo. She is a tireless worker, doesn't hesitate to question and often provides an alternative point for discussion and review on the commission.

She loves her city and continues to donate her time and resources on many boards and committees to help move it in the right direction. She understands the fiscal constraints on the city and will vote responsibly on matters of budget. When Barbara is asked to participate, give and attend she can always be counted on to step up.

Understanding the role of education and learning in the transformation of this city, she is a great advocate for youth and programs which support them. She has a long history of supporting education and her actions and involvement speak for itself.

For the third time, Barbara initiated the application process for Kalamazoo to be among the "100 Best Communities That Serve Youth." It is no surprise that Kalamazoo won for each of the 3 years. I strongly endorse Barbara Hamilton Miller as a candidate for city commissioner.

Understands role of education in strengthening city ....

Kalamazoo has the good fortune to have Barbara Hamilton Miller as a citizen and a member of the Kalamazoo City Commission.

As an incumbent, Barbara views her office as one of service and stewardship. In addition to her service to the city, Barb has volunteered her time and expertise to the Kalamazoo Community in Schools organization that brokers resources needed by our schools to remove impediments to learning. She understands that to have a healthy community, we need to have strong schools and employment opportunities for our children after they graduate.

To achieve these goals our community must be engaged on a number of levels with active leaders like Barb. Please keep a valuable member of our community in a position to continue serving our city. Re-elect Barbara Hamilton Miller.

Proven Performer ....

The collective strength of commissioners is rooted in their diversity of vision, experience, and the energy they bring to work for the Kalamazoo region. She is a proven performer over many years of operational process at the heart of city educational administration and now adds two terms as a city commissioner.
